Fierce Friday: Disney's Ursula Inspired Makeup

Another Fierce Friday!!!

YAAAAYYYY!!!!

This look was inspired by Ursula from the Little Mermaid.

This is a creative/dramatic look; I'd probably wear this for events like Halloween or any themed parties (if I ever get invited into one. #lol).

I remembered when I was a kid, I hated her and Maleficent so much. Coupled with their "bad looks", their wrath was so undeniable; I got scared into hating them!! #lol

These were the pictures I used as reference (all are screenshots taken from my phone).

And this was what I came up with:

Note: The exposure, temperature, tint and saturation were heavily adjusted on these pictures. I wanted to capture the dark, scary (almost dead-like) feel she resonated in the Disney cartoon. Pictures that weren't adjusted are posted at the end of this blog post. And.... I was wearing a tube dress; I'm wasn't naked. Lol.

Me when I just bought a new necklace.

Me when someone tries to steal it from me.

Me when I realised it's not "30% off", but "up to 30% off". #lol

Products used:

Base/Blush:

  • Missha Radiance Pore Primer
  • Revlon's Colorstay Makeup (Warm Golden)*
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation (NC35)*
  • MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NC35)**
  • MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter (Forecast)
  • Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Loose Powder
  • Borjouis Contour Clubbing Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner (Ultra Black)'
  • Sasatinnie Dolly Loves Eyeshadow Palette (#3; Black Matte eyeshadow)'
  • theBalm Bahama Mama''
  • MAC Studio Fix Powder (NC15)''
  • LA Colors' Mineral Blush (Very Berry)
*I mixed these two because the Revlon foundation is too light for me.

**I used this to conceal my eyebrows as well.

'I used this to draw the thin, dark eyebrows. I used a thin, angled brow brush and went over it with the black eyeshadow to intensify and mattify the colour.

''I used these to contour and highlight to look more like Ursula.

  • MAC Paint Pot (Painterly)
  • Urban Decay Electric Palette (Fringe)
  • theBalm Meet Matt(e) Palette (Matt McDonald)
  • Inglot Eyeliner Gel (#77)
  • Borjouis Contour Clubbing Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner (Ultra Black)
  • False Eyelashes*
  • Apex Beauté Power Volume-Up Mascara
*Optional

Tutorial (or lack thereof. #lulz)

(This pic is unedited)

(1) After concealing the eyebrows, I went over them with the black pencil eyeliner. Then I set it with the matte black eyeshadow.

(2) After priming my eyes with MAC's Paint Pot, I tapped on Fringe with my flat stiff eyeshadow brush. I applied it all over my eyelid (slightly above the crease) and on my waterline. I blended any harsh lines with a blending brush.

(3) I used the same eyeshadow brush (after wiping it clean) and tapped on Matt MacDonald. I applied the "empty space" left in between Fringe and the eyebrows. I also applied this at the inner corners.

(4) Using a blending brush, I tapped on the same eyeshadow and sweeped it on the outer corners and my undereye area (This is to create the dark undereye area I remembered her having when I watched The Little Mermaid when I was a kid).

(5) Using the gel eyeliner and a gel eyeliner brush, I drew the eyeliner on my upper eyelid; going slightly past my outer corners. This is to re-create the almond-shaped eyes she has (or had #lol).

(6) I tightlined and drew my inner waterline with the black pencil eyeliner.

(7) I applied false eyelashes at the outer corners (I stacked two together). I also applied lower false eyelashes on the outer corners of my lower eyelid. I curled and applied mascara as usual.

(8) I applied blush all over my face.

For lips,

  • I mixed the two colours together to achieve the red-orange lipstick she sports (in the picture).

Hope this helps.

Till then.

Ida.
