I decided to do a Pocahontas Inspired Makeup look because, well, there are hardly any makeup tutorials on how to recreate her makeup look.
Plus, I like her makeup look in the Disney cartoon.
So yeah.
These were the pictures that inspired me:
I was going out that day, so I toned it down a little bit.
This was what I ended up with:
Looks better, no?
#haha
Products used:
Base/Blush:
- Missha Radiance Pore Primer
- Revlon Colorstay Makeup (Warm Golden)*
- MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation (NC40)*
- MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NC35)
- MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter (Forecast)
- theBalm Bahama Mama**
- Kryolan Cake Make Up (Ivory2)**
- Missha The Style Smudge-Proof Wood Brow (Dark Brown)
- Inglot Powder Blush (#49)
*I mixed these two foundations together because I'm in the process of getting rid of these two. The Revlon one is too light for me while the MAC one is too dark.
**Optional. I used this to highlight and contour my face.
Eye:
- MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter (Forecast)
- MAC Matte Eyeshadow (Embark)
- Urban Decay Naked Palette (Buck)
- Urban Decay Naked Palette (Naked)
- Borjouis Clubbing Contour Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner (Black Party)
- MAC Fluidline (Blacktrack)
- MAC In Extreme Dimension Mascara (Black Extreme)
Lips:
- MAC Lip Pencil (Mahogony)'
- Revlon Colorstay Lipstick (Red Velvet)'
- NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (Ibiza)''
'These were applied on the first look.
''This was applied on the second (wearable) look.
Tutorial:
(1) Prime the eyelids; including the brow bone.
(2) Using a blending brush, gently sweep Embark all over the eyelids; stopping just below the brow bone.
(3) Wipe the same brush clean. Tap onto Buck and apply it on the crease. Blend in windshield wiping motion. Wipe the brush clean again. Tap onto Naked and apply it on the brow bone and the inner corners to highlight.
Note: This 4th step is optional. I wanted to draw a template first because I wasn't exactly sure how I wanted to draw it.
(4) Using a black pencil eyeliner, draw the winged eyeliner as shown on the top eyelid and an "inverted" eyeliner on the waterline.
(5) Using the same black eyeliner, draw in the inner rim of the waterline.
(6) Dip a gel eyeliner brush into Blacktrack and draw on top of the existing winged eyeliners to intensify the look.
Note: If you are doing the more wearable look, only draw the eyeliner on your top eyelid and the inner corners. Line your waterline with the black eye pencil as well.
Lips:
- Define and fill in the lips with Mahogany.
- Tap Red Velvet on top.
Note: For a more wearable look, I switched to NYX's Ibiza to brighten the whole look.
And...
DONE!!!
DONE!!!
Out of curiosity, I googled "Pocahontas" because I heard that she wasn't a fairytale creation (Like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc;) she was a real person. And this was what I found:
- "Pocahontas" was her nickname. It means: Little Wanton or the playful one.
- Her real name was Mataoka.
- In the movie, both Pocahontas and John Smith were young adults. In reality, Pocohontas was 11 and John Smith was 28.
- They first met when Pocahontas saved him from being killed by a club; not in the forest as shown in the movie.
- They were only friends in real life. They didn't fall in love as told in the movie.
There are actually a few more, but I don't want to bore you with the facts. #haha XP
Hope this helps.
Till then.
Ida.
