For the spring season (on the fashion runways), the makeup were dramatic or brightly coloured eyeliner/eye makeup paired with a nude, natural lip.
Or
Natural (less dramatic) eye makeup paired with a bold lip.
And, it doesn't focus on contoured, highlighted base, but on having a matte, velvety skin or a dewy skin as the base.
This makeup look I did was a poor representation of that. #lulz
But, with that being said, I've seen more and more of these looks (exact replica or inspired by) on Instagram, videos.... ok, mainly Instagram. Where, the base is still contoured and highlighted. The eye makeup on the top lid is smokey, BUT, the lower waterline is LINED WITH A BRIGHTLY COLOURED EYESHADOW.
AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
IT IS GORGEOUS.
So, I decided to do a tutorial on that instead.
The makeup on these gorgeous ladies were what inspired today's makeup look:
Normani Kordei from Fifth Harmony.
(Picture taken from Fifth Harmony's Worth It MV; you have to watch it. IT'S WORTH IT!!! Get it?? Haha. #lame)
And, Amar. She's a Lebanese singer.
(Picture taken from a snippet of an interview she did; she posted it on her Instagram page. Watch her new MV, Ma3 Nafsi. IT'S AMAZING!!! )
And this is the look I came up with:
(Sorry. Couldn't decide on which two pics to post. So I posted all of them that looked good.) #lol
This is how it'd look like when toned down (I used mainly Missha eyeshadows):
Products used:
Base/Blush:
- Missha Radiance Pore Primer
- MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation (NC35)
- MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NC35)
- MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter (Forecast)
- The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer
- The Balm Bahama Mama
- The Balm Shadow/Blush (FratBoy)
- Missha The Style Smudge-Proof Wood Brow (Dark Brown)
Eye:
- MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter (Forecast)
- The Balm Meet Matt(e) Palette (Matt Ramirez)
- Sasatinnie Dolly Loves Eyeshadow Palette (#3; Black Matte Eyeshadow)
- Urban Decay Naked Palette (Half-Baked)
- MAC Eyeshadow (Steamy)
- Coastal Scents Double-Stacked Palette (Top row; 1st eyeshadow - White)*
- The Balm Meet Matt(e) Palette (Matt Smith)
- Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner (Ultra Black)
- Maybelline HyperSharp Penliner (Black)
- False Eyelashes (I used two pairs and stacked them together)**
- DiorShow New Look Mascara
*
** Optional
Lips:
- MAC Matte Lipstick (Acai; From the Julia Petit Collection)
- NYX Matte Lipstick (Bloody Mary)
Tutorial:
(1) After priming the eyelids, use a sponge/tissue paper/scotch tape and place it on the outer corner; angling it towards the end of your eyebrow (I went a bit farther but I lengthened my eyebrows afterwards).
Using the angled brush, dip into Matt Ramirez and draw a line on the outer corner and slightly above the crease as shown. Blend with the same brush.
(2) Dip a bit of the matte black eyeshadow and do the same. Use a smudge brush or the same angled brush to blend.
(3) Using a flat eyeshadow brush, apply UD's Half-Baked onto the centre of the eyelid.
(4) Wipe the angled brush on a clean tissue paper. Spray it with water and tap it into Steamy. Draw on the lower waterline and on the outer corners.
(5) Highlight the inner corner with the shimmery White eyeshadow from Coastal Scents. Highlight the brow bone with Matt Smith.
(6) Draw the inner waterline with the black eyeliner pencil.
(7) Draw a winged eyeliner with the penliner.
(8) Apply the false eyelashes and mascara.
For lips,
I applied MAC's Acai and dabbed on NYX's Bloody Mary afterwards.
And......
DONE!!!!
Phew!!! That seemed like it'll never end! Lol.
Hope this helps.
Till then.
Ida.
